Residents of the ashram enjoy the tasty, nourishing vegetarian food, the stunning landscapes, spending time with beautiful friends, enjoying to play music, cosy accommodation, experiencing being resourceful with gas, water etc and learning about gardening. However these are not our main reasons for being here...
Samaya Ashram welcomes those who are sick and tired of the way they have been living their life up to now and have a burning desire to undergo a RADICAL TRANSFORMATION. We welcome people who know that there is more to lifethan the usual social norms. “People spend too much money to buy things that they don’t need, with money that they don’t have, to impress people that they don’t like”.
Ashram residents are OPEN and READY to challenge all of their belief systems, push beyond their mental comfort zones; saying goodbye to their old fake self and opening up to a new authentic way of living in their life.

With every day focused on living with awareness, you might begin to feel the old layers of emotional pain, beliefs or stress completely dissolve... to reveal a deep connection to your true self. The ashram does not enforce any doctrines, dogmas or 1000 year old tradition to follow. We only offer a space to encourage people to live their life at the maximum level of joy, passion, energy, vitality, contentment, love and awareness.
Here at Samaya Ashram, we aim to create a loving, nurturing, cheerful, meditative and most of all FUN environment. However, in order to let go of old belief systems and addictions, at times you may be greatly challenged and experience some “growing pains” before the fresh new vital you emerges, like a beautiful phoenix rising from the ashes.

Some Practicalities:
We welcome residents to come and live at the ashram for at least one – three months and “open-ended” if possible. This is so you can really dive totally into the ashram life and go deeper into your own meditation. However we do make exceptions, if you genuinely do not have a month to spare (for example if it is the end of your visa or if you are on vacation from University).
We are not a Wwoofing place. People come here to become part of an ashram, not to find a free place to stay. The work you do here is "Meditation in Action". It is part of our daily routine, a meditation and we do not make any money out of the work you do. You should not compare it to working in the outside world on a "payment per hour" mentality. At the moment we have more than enough people living with us to do the work so we do not need "volunteer" help like a charity does. Ashram residents are those who really really thirsty to experience ashram life and LOVE each morning to help create more beauty in our gardens or in the forest.
As we are not a Wwoofing place, this also means that residents pay a donation in order to keep the ashram open. We have high running costs of food and amenities.
Please settle down major "worldly interests" if possible before you arrive. For example, it is not good for you or us if you constantly need to use the internet or need to keep on going to nearby towns for personal things to sort out or for business. If you come even for a short time, please come in your totality and embrace this amazing opportunity you will have to nurture yourself.

You must have an inclination to wake up early and go to bed early and have good physical energy and stamina.
Please bring your own bedding and sleeping bag, shower towels, a torch, gardening gloves and gumboots (it is quite muddy around here!).
Absolutely no smoking, alcohol or drugs. We are also not suitable for people addicted to drugs, alcohol or cigarettes or suffering the comedown effects of these substances. We are not a drug rehabilitation centre.
You must not be afraid of compost toilets, cold showers in the summer, harmless big spiders and the odd friendly python!
Hundreds of people from all over the world have enjoyed their stay here from countries such as England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Holland, Germany, Austria, Kenya, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Canada, USA and New Zealand. Sometimes a few Australians come :-)
See you soon!
