We are a non-profit ashram located in the forested hills between Byron Bay and Lismore in Australia's rainbow region.
Founded in 1993 by Prem Samaya, the ashram has assisted in the transformation of thousands over the years and has evolved into a fascinating and diverse community.
Here meditation is key - not something done for half an hour in the morning, but through each moment of each day. We welcome long and short term stays here and offer a wide variety of retreats and workshops.
Prem Samaya is a Vitae Magister (Life Teacher) who shares his profound, long life experience with full dedication to assist everyone to move through life in a meaningful and fulfilled way.
Samaya is also a disciple of the Indian mystic Osho, and having spent more than half a century on the spiritual path his guidance and honesty is an essential aspect of life here at the ashram.
His presence is felt during the day but especially when in the evenings he connects with all of us through dancing meditation, silence and sharing.
"Memento Mori, Morituri. Vitam Gaudeamus, Vitam Celebremus." Be mindful of death, we are going to die. Rejoice in life,
celebrate life.
The Bush Sanctuary is an integral part of Samaya Ashram. Deva Anudasi, who has been the co-founder of Samaya Ashram, is conducting regular Vipassana meditation retreats and Osho meditation camps. Also people can experience living in the Bush Sancutary as a guest or as resident assistants. Please call Anudasi on (02) 6688 2151 or email her devaanudasi@gmail.com.
